'Desire to Enter' Plastic red roses, tree stakes, barbed wire
In recent years Julia has been increasingly drawn towards working within a garden or landscape context. In the last 2 years she has been creating sculptures and installations for Levens Hall, Chaumont-sur-Loire (France) and this summer has crerated a piece for the Westonbirt Festival.
For ‘Borderline’ she is using fencing, barbed wire and a thousand artificial red roses to create a piece playing with our attraction of what lies beyond, across the border in the ‘greener land’. Nestling within the beech hedges of the Dragon Garden, an abstract representation of a quintessentially English horticultural idyll is partially hidden and access to it is restricted.
