'Tales of the Half Light'

Paul Rooney, who exhibits widely across the UK and abroad and has just completed a residency at Tate Liverpool, works primarily with video, sound and performance. In his ‘Borderline’ installation voices can be heard coming out of the undergrowth recounting dark, mysterious stories and old folk tales. The visitor also overhears conversations with mediums and spiritualists.

As a foil to the natural world we experience daily, is a mysterious and more sinister dimension borne out of tales heard in childhood or held in our collective unconscious. Soothsayers, mediums and spiritualists are practised in crossing over the border into this ‘other world’.
