Our education and outreach activity is at the heart of our programme and aims to encourage discussion and reflection about contemporary art. It enables participants to directly engage with contemporary art through a variety of participatory opportunities. The Meadow Gallery believes that this activity gives people the opportunity to connect with contemporary art by evoking a creative response from each participant that will stimulate an enthusiasm for engaging and learning.

Our activities are developed and delivered in conjunction with key regional organisations and the host venues own Learning and Education departments and are led by experienced education and outreach practitioners.

These programmes currently take the form of targeted schools visits and workshops, family events, community workshops, conferences, curator’s tours and self-led exhibition trails designed to develop direct engagement with contemporary art.

Our approach invites participants to explore and discover the ideas and themes of the exhibitions through the use of a variety of participatory opportunities. Within our workshop programme, an emphasis is placed upon the exploration of ideas and the handling of materials rather than on producing a final piece of work.

Our programmes are carefully monitored and assessed so that the audiences’ opinions help to inform our artistic programme.

Details of the events and activities will be available at the time of the exhibitions.
